M3K: The Wizard of Paws

Aggie and Madie's Dad repurrts:
I usually let matters move at their own pace with the kitties, but this time I interfered (a bit). Aggie was resting peacefully in solitary splendor on her high perch, beyond (as of yet) the leaping abilities of Miss Madie Mitten Kitten. So I picked Madie up and added her to the homey vignette. Awww, so cutes! Snap, snap, pictures for posterity (and the insatiable maw of "The Blog"!)

Aggie looked a little misty eyed, as if seeing little Madie as "the kitten I'll never have." Feeling particularly motherly in the moment, Aggie proceeded to gently groom M3K as if she were her own flesh and fur.

Milliseconds later, Madie's on her back, using both paws to whack her erstwhile Mama upside the face and head! Aggie's bobbing and weaving, trying to get one last lick in---and failing! Time to terminate the experiment! As Aggie glared at me accusingly, I picked Madie up and put her out of paw's reach. Well ::sigh:: I tried.

  1. Doesn't sound like a total loss to us! Grooming and playing is good! Sounds like you did the purrfect thing by supervising a little time together.

  7. A scene all too common in our household since Tutu arrived. But we usually let her be so the adults can tell her what is acceptable and what's not. And they do...sometimes moving away, sometimes just raising their paw and sometimes they pounce on her and hold her down.

Aggie sounds to be very patient, we think it's okay to let them sort things out on their own, under supervision. :)

  9. Yes, at least you tried! :)

It sounds like it wasn't a total failure, though.

  12. Gosh, that sounds exactly how kittens react to their momma's cleaning them.. they try to play and wriggle and squirm! A good experiment! But yeah, short bursts are good, so removing her was probably a good idea too. Don't be afraid to try it again!

Spitty dear, Star also rubs her toys on her face, especially her butterfly toy! I'll try to get a video of her too!

Leave me a meow or a hiss; I don't mind a hiss or two. . . or even a bitey.
