Ain't Too Proud to Beg

I used to be too proud, but, Kitties, not any more. Not.Any.More! After years of rejecting every treat known to kitty-kind, from simple Temptations, to slightly more upscale Greeniesto top-of-the-line Grandma Lucy's Freeze Dried Tuna Cat Treats, my reputation as The Picky Gourmet was firmly established. Spitty does not eat treats: It was like a commandment or something.

But then came last evening, October 15, 2012. In a burst of optimism fueled by my recent interest in food, the Human purchased a bag of Tempting Tuna Flavor Temptations. She waved one under my nose. I was interested, Kitties, I can't deny it. She laid it gently on the floor.

Kitties, I sniffed that thing. I licked it. I picked it up in my mouth and dropped it again. I looked plaintively at the Human.

"Spitty, would you like me to break that up into smaller pieces for you?" she offered.

Duh! Would I ever!

It was delicious. I had several

    Mmmmmm. Tasty!

  1. You are going soft, Spitster. Next you'll be eating them out of your Mom's hand, or waiting by the food cupboard mewing like a little kittencat, wanting food. I still don't like Dreamies but I happily join in the routine of waiting for food. When Äiti gets really frustrated she hand feeds me my special dried food and I just feel so sorry for her I eat a bit.
Now what's all this about sharing the California throne ? We are amused. And yes, I have always been King Kitty Cat of Finland (North) as my southern royal colleague is much older than me. We came to an agreement when I first got my crown. I am not so sure I would share FInland (North) unless someone proved themselves extremely worthy.

  2. What's going on? I thought you were on Team Russell, Refuser of All Things Treat. I don't know, dude.

Oh, and about Caroline? The only one she likes is my mom. She's kind of a pain to everyone, including herself!

  3. Oh, Spitty, you need to meet Oui Oui.

She only eats a couple favors of cat food and only 1 type of treat, all fish favored. I bought Mica Moo calming treats that are chicken liver & brewer's yeast favored and OO loved them! So I bought her vitamins with the exact same ingredients and she won't touch them!

  6. Well, Spitty. You've got me reconsidering a few things. I have always refused treats, even the Temptations, but if I can get the lady to break them up for me...I'm going to give it a try.

  10. We don't like many treats ourselves but we do like the Greenies or at least some of us do. Good job Spitty getting Mom to break the treat up in little pieces. It is so much easier to eat it that way.Take care.

  13. Oh Spitty, there are lots of flavours of the Temptations. They're all yummy, too. There's salmon and tuna and beef and chicken and dairy and... Ooohhhh... absolute delishishness. You have a whole world to discover, my friend. A whole world. purrs

  19. Hope you still have those Dreamies I sent you! They ARE Dreamy. I see you like your food broken up too. I can usually eat treats and kibble without it being broken up, but I'm too lazy to chew regular Greenies. I LOVE those Greenies SmartBites though.

Guess my Yankees are dead and buried. Best of luck to your Giants.

  20. One of my previous cats loved Temptations! She'd live on them if I'd let her.

  21. MOL, you know Clyde (the baby) used to lick the Temptations (the cat treats not the singing group- though I'm certain he would lick them too but that's another story all together-) like that too until he got his Big Cat Teefs in. Now that he doesn't have his baby teefs and has his BIG MANCAT TEEFS he has no problemo. I'm guessing that you make your human break them up in to dainty little crumbs so you don't risk getting any detritus on your silky black furrs. I'm certain this characateristc goes right along with your pink beddy.

You should come on over sometime...

I'd love to share my rat eyeballs with you.

    xoxo

  22. I have to be very careful of my fingertips when temptations are on the menu.. Your human was very kind to break it up for you.

  23. Spitty you've got her trained as I got mine to cater to your treat demands. Very good job of human training purrs.

  24. Okay, the thing that impresses me the most about this post is that you have your human so well trained that she will all but chew your food for you! Good job!

  25. You mean she touched them AND YOU ATE THEM? Hmm, we just might have to try that...someday. Purrs...

  26. Oh Spitty...you crack us up.
I'm not much of a treat-kitty...except when it comes to freeze dried salmon. Oh my, that stuff that Glogirly crinkles her nose at is like heaven.

  27. Spitty, reject it now! Your human has become complacent. Trust me on this!

Leave me a meow or a hiss; I don't mind a hiss or two. . . or even a bitey.
