Resting Up on All Saints Day

(I needed a good long Post-Halloween nappy, Kitties, didn't you?)

So, some people might think that Kitties would not be interested in All Saints Day but those people would be incorrect. In fact, it turns out that there is indeed a Patron Saint of Cats, and her name is Saint Gertrude of Nivelles. (My Human teaches in a Roamin' Catlick school, so she should know about saints, right? She'd have you believe she actually *is* one herself, but we know better, don't we, Kitties?)

So, anyway, here she is:

We found two pictures of her. The one on the right seems a little friendlier and less skeery than the one on the left. I wouldn't mind hanging out with the right-side St. Gertrude. She looks friendly enough, don't you think?

  2. TW used to feel a feral she named Gertrude who later found a nice home. I's certainly not a saint. Heh heh. Some would say our humans are saints for putting up with us. MOL

  3. I don't know, the one on the left looks like a lot of my teachers growing up! The right side one looks a little TOO nice, like she is hiding something. Or her face will melt away and a vishus monster will be standing there.

  4. We have a patron saint ? Do we have to pray to her to get treats ? All Saints Day here is not celebrated but on the Saturday after ASD the cemeteries are full of candles. It can look magical in the snow. We make sure Äiti lights candles here for those who have gone before.

  5. We have a hand-painted plaque of St. Gertrude that my mom picked up at some art festival here. I should get her to post it--we could have a St. Gertrude-off!

P.S. Caroline says you look quite fetching today.

  7. Roamin' Catlick....hee, hee.

I didn't know there was a patron saint for cats. I know there is a patron saint for everything under the sun...I'm glad to hear about the cats.

I'm partial to the day after All Saints Day. Dia de los Muertos!
What with the skulls and other cool things.

P.S. I had many adventures on my broomstick ride.

  9. You look so snuggy in your pink beddy in the sun! Your gorgeous furs looking all sparkly and bright!

Star says: I'd crawl in there with you to celebrate the day, if you hadn't just offered to come over and groom my head and ears so I can face that introoder at my house! You don't have to worry, I'll be the fierce warrior princess and you can be my comforting knight when I return from battle so you don't have to fight! We wouldn't want to ruffle your furs after all!

  16. We didn't know this. And we agree, the card on the right looks far more benign and approachable. LOL.

BTW, our human's paternal grandmother was named Gertrude, but she definitely was no saint. LOL.

  17. Never knew there was such a saint, but I'm not sure after that photo on the left, if I'd trust her, even the good one, could be a trick and she really likes dogs.
