The Forgotten Figure

Oh yeah, there's always the stupid nice donkey and a coupla lambs. But I ask you: Where's the kitty?
Who wouldn't have invited a nice, cuddly cat on a cold night?

  1. Oh, Spitty, you are so smart to say that. I think for sure there were some kitties around. Maybe one even snuggled right In the manger with baby Jesus.

  2. Who indeed? We happen to believe that the baby in the manger would have been supremely comforted by the soothing purring of a cat.

  4. The cat was invited, but he was smart enough to stay in the warm cottage instead of going out to the cold barn.

  5. Well, you know how people rewrite cat history. I mean, what happened to the fourth wise man who carried the gift of nip for the cat who kept the baby J warm? You don't hear about him, either.

  6. Spitty, I bet if there was a cat in the manger, it wouldn't be you.! HAH! It'd be the Admiral cos she was an angel even before she went OTRB. You and me—we're more like devils.

BTW, there was a big to-do because a priest added a statue of his DOG to the manger at St. Pat's Cathedral. Turns out lots of mangers (I can't spell that other word that begins w/a C) feature dogs. WHERE ARE THE [CENSORED] CATS!

  9. Spitty! What's a barn without a couple of cats! Me thinks the story tellers just assumed that everybody would know there obviously was a cat there!

  15. Now THAT'S an awesome gathering!

We just know that if you're going in for bible stories, then there was the barn right? So naturally there were cats, they was just working! No rest for the wicked!

  17. Kitties are always written into the stories at a latter time as is the case of the book Mom read about the Chinese Zodiak. We just wait to saunter onto the scene and make our presence known.

  19. Spotty, you are right - those mangers need kitties! How else would they be able to keep away the mice and vermin? Who else could tell if the wise men were REALLY wise?

  21. Jeez, Spitty, you make a good point! A cat woulda crawled right into that manger and kept Baby Jesus warm...instead of having to wrap him up in rags!

Leave me a meow or a hiss; I don't mind a hiss or two. . . or even a bitey.
