Mint Condition

Kitties! What a Furrari trip!
I picked up Queen Katie Isabella at her castle in the heart of Tennessee,
and we immediately returned at warp speed to my hometown.
Queen Katie had expressed a rather unusual desire
to visit the San Francisco Mint.
Now for those of you who don't know or care (and I assume your numbers are legion),
San Francisco has two mints. The "new" one, built in the late 1930s,
looks like a giant prison on a hill (above). It is still operational,
though now it mints only commemorative coins.
The Old Mint, built in 1874, survived the 1906 earthquake and is now a museum
open to the public on some days and available for special occasions.
It's certainly a more graceful and less intimidating structure.

The best part of our day came after the tour when we stopped off at Chez Spittola
for a little R&R before our long trip back to Tennessee.
We had a lovely cuddle and, as usual, I groomed Katie's sweet little heady
while she snuggled and purred. It was Heavenly!

  2. What, no samples? Think of the cat towers and toys and treats you could have gotten with some coin!

Or wait. By "mint" did you mean cat mint? Because you should have gotten samples of that, too. With those giant buildings, I bet they had some to give away!

  3. So, how come Katie Isabella couldn't drive or fly into SF? I mean, I LOVE (LOVE!) Katie Isabella, but seriously? She makes you go all the way across the country to pick her up?

  7. We didn't even know SF had two mints! The older one is certainly more pleasing to the eye.

Sounds like another successful Furrari trip!

Hope you have a great Monday, Spitty!

  9. Spittola...fanks you SO muches for the ride and to exactly where I wanted to go. I like the old Mint really more than the new one. You are right, the new one looks like a prison. Worse than our PTU's.

King Mr. Black..I am surprised at your question. I am a Queen. Of course Spitty did the right thing according to Royal Custom and came to pick me up.

The stop off at the Chez Spittola was magnificent. They know you in there of course and so the Royal (what else) treatment was just the cream on top of the Fancy Feast. What a Royal and exciting ride. Oh I had fun and my furs blowing in the wind with the top down meant that much less for Mom to have to vacuum off the furniture and carpets now when I get home again. IF I go. Heeee. xxxooo <3

  11. What an exceptional day. San Francisco is an excellent city for romance. Our humans (originally from CA) were married there. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette

  13. How exciting! We have a "Mint" in our downtown too*, and they make the airline security guards look like toddlers, or so our mom says. So glad you didn't have to deal with them!

    * DC we are talking about as we claim both Washington & Baltimore as hometowns, depending on our mood and the stupidity of the politicians.

  20. Kisses Spitty!
Just wanted to say, before Star thinks I've hurt her vanity.. That I don't know for sure that she does have that Arty Ritis stuff, I just know that she didn't want to jump up on the counter by herself any more for a long time. But now that she's been on the coconut oil, she's jumping again. She is a touch older than you are, but she's not decrepit yet! You should see, or hear, her thunder up and down the stairs! Girlfriend is FAST!
