A friend of the Human's, not as old as the Human, but still old enough to know better (you'd think), actually jumped off a ferry into San Francisco Bay this morning and swam the 1.5 miles from Alcatraz to the shore.
Now, since neither she nor any of the other 900 Stoopy Humans with her were actually imprisoned on that island, you'd think they might've just taken the ferry back. But nooooooooooo -- they swam!
And look! There are some of them now, rounding the bend into the cove near Aquatic Park, teeth chattering, eyes burning, taking on seawater like the Titanic.
The Human's friend came in 4th for her age bracket and the Human thought she looked really Bad@ss in her wetsuit and all. Go figure.

ReplyDeleteOh dear! Aren't there sharks in that water? When I was a tourist visiting Alcatraz many years ago, I was told that a number of people had tried to escape over the years but none was successful - they either drowned or were taken by sharks. Was that just a myth?
