Sad Foods News

Since I was a wee boy, I have been a very picky eater, and although the Human has spent the price of a new Corvette on healthy, good-for-me, high-quality cat food, and although she has actually even cooked for me, she has always reliably depended on Whiska's "savory pate" flavors in the little squarish cans to get me to eat. When they became harder to find, she tried other Whiska's products (such as the ones the nice lady above offered to send coupons for), but I was not interested.

Then, one day not long ago, her visit to PetSmart proved fruitless, and when even Amazon failed her, she knew the jig was up. She wrote to the company anyway, but as you can see from the tragic email response above, There is no joy in Mudville.

Oh, I will eat other foods, probably I will not actually starve myself, but Hard Times have come to Spittyland, yes they have. Sigh.

It's always something.

  1. We wish we could help - this is cruel.
Äiti experienced the same in 1971 when chicken rissoles were removed from Sainsbury's shelves. It was downhill from then. We HOPE you have more resilience than she did.

  2. Oh no - Spitty! Raw fish straight from the markets? Cooked chicken? Roast lamb? Better get your Human on to it asap.

  5. Oh bugger! We have the same problem with Ralphie here Spitty :( They changed the formula on the wet food he will eat and now we are having a heck of a time finding something that will even tempt him. Thank goodness he will still eat his kibble, but I prefer he eats a mix of wet and dry as it is much healthier. Tell your Mom I feel her frustration!

  6. Spitty, we know that our mom has been disappointed when favorite products have disappeared because she was the only one on the planet who bought it, but we never dreamed this could happen to cats! This is beyond tragic. We hope there's a decent substitute on the horizon.

  7. This is so sad...your favorite food has vanished! We hope your human will stumble onto something you like just as well as your beloved Whiskas.

  8. Oh Spitty. I will be available to soothe your troubled brow if needed. SO far, I still can get my FF fuds. And the one RC one I like. So far.

  9. I feel your pain Spitty, the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I am a very picky eater too.

  10. We wish we would have known this, Spitty. All of us would have bought this food and ate it so that the company would see that US catsumers love it!

  11. Spitty, if you have GROCERY OUTLET or BIG LOTS in your area, tell your mom to check these stores. Grocery Outlet gets a the lot of items that did not get wide acceptance by consumers. Our mom gets our treats there, much cheaper too.

  12. TBTs general rule of life is that there is something he likes, not enough other Beins do and they stop selling it. We are glad we like general Wellness canned foods; those will probly continue...

  13. Spitty, that is some seriously sad news. We sure hope your human can find something else that suits your sensitive palate.

  14. That gripes our mom so much when something she has relied on for years and years suddenly is no longer produced. We know you won't starve yourself, Spitty, but you do want something that pleases your palate. Good luck finding the right replacement. Leave me a meow or a hiss; I don't mind a hiss or two. . . or even a bitey.
