Our Special Veteran

This is the Human's father Bill, a Marine captain who for four years fought in some of the fiercest battles that raged in the South Pacific during WWII. After that, he was sent to occupy Nagasaki for several months after The Bomb was dropped.

He left the military at the end of the war; he never felt he'd done any more than his duty and believed those on the other side had done the same. He lived the rest of his life as the generous and peace-loving man he was, and though he died more than 30 years ago, the Human thinks of him often and knows she could not have had a better father.

  5. How brave he must have been, yet like so many others of his generation, humble about his priceless contribution. Thank you for sharing his story.

  8. There are so many lives and stories behind those we know, and we honour those who have gone before and shaped the future to be safe for us. And those who made so many decent people of their descendants too.

  17. What a beautiful post, and a special remembrance of your human's father. It sounds as though he was a wonderful human being, and we are grateful for him, and his service to our country.

Some of our male human's great uncles fought for the United States in Europe during WWII, and his father was in the USMC. His nephew is currently in the USAF.

We are so thankful for the selfless service of all of our veterans.

Leave me a meow or a hiss; I don't mind a hiss or two. . . or even a bitey.
