Spitty Is Scared

So, as you saw a couple days ago, we has a porta-potty decorating our sidewalk. The reason it is there is that many workers are tearing our building apart and putting it back together again in a hopefully-more-earthquake-resistant way. The work (which started August 1) is expected to take three months, and, Kitties, let me tell you, it is loud and terrifying. I spent yesterday huddled at the Human's feet [He has never done this before 😢. -Ed.] and found it strangely comforting that she was not twitching or screaming. She just kept telling me the noises were not inside our apartment (but they are working directly below us, in the garage and storage areas, called a "soft story," which is why it needs retrofitting). They bang and crash and hammer and pound and drill and, nevermind what the Human says, *I* think the world is coming to an end.

  1. Poor guy. We feel for you. We don't like loud noises like that either. If it's going to take forever, maybe some feel good help from the vet is in order?

  2. Poor Spitty. Wanna cross the bridge and stay with us while all this is going on?

  3. Spitty - that's a horrible thing to be happening. I feel that you should be claiming compensation for the trauma and suffering and to cover the costs of the Human having to take 3 months off work so that she can stay home and reassure you. Either that, or the two of you relocate to a luxury resort somewhere for the duration.

    Take care!

  4. Uh. Construction work is really really bad, we know that all too well! Our silly human squeaks that you searched shelter at her smelly feet instead of hiding somewhere.

So are they also invading your apartment? If yes - excellent possibilities to sneak out and get more fleas - construction workers often forget to close doors...

  5. Poor Spitty! Our house has been retrofitted, and I am glad it was done several years before I was born.

  8. Your placid and tranquil "stream" of life has been invaded by the noise monsters and I can imagine that really is "off-putting" to say the least! Time to hop in the tunnel and do some visiting. A guy needs his TRANQUILITY!

  9. So sorry to hear how frightened you are Spitty. The exterior of our house has been getting some work on it this past week, and Savannah and Sage know exactly how you feel. But your home will be much more secure once they are done. Hang in there!!

  12. Perhaps if mom left soft music playing (when she heartlessly deserts you) it might help. Or she could make a cubby up higher somewhere you go to be in a cave of comforting darkness?

  14. Sorry you have to put up with all that noise. We don't want your house to fall over if the earth shakes.

  15. Sorry Spitty. Maybe a calming collar would help you relax.

  16. As long as they are finished when the 2018 Perseid Meteor showers and the New Moon conjunct, you will be safe.

  17. Oh gosh Spitty. Sage and I know just how you feel. We are having our dry rot replaced and their are drills, hammers, banging and strange humans all around our home. I head behind the couch when it gets too much to take.

  18. Spitty, that sounds horrible. We certainly hope they don't work on the weekend so that you can get a little rest. Maybe some music or TV noise would help, or you could transport here and stay with us. Misty May would enjoy that! 19. Oh no! That sounds terrible, Spitty. We are pretty sure your human is right, though ... all of this upheaval is to make your building safer for you. Hugs and headbonks to you both.

  20. Three months? Hang in there. Wait, You said they were finished?? That's the same tired story TW tells me that they're not inside and she won't let anybody hurt me.

Leave me a meow or a hiss; I don't mind a hiss or two. . . or even a bitey.
