*Still Life With Very Dirty Table

(Can you guess whose chore the dusting is?)
(I assure you the name does not begin with an "S".)
(Just sayin'.)

                                       It's a Miracle

Miracle One:  She came home right after school--before 4:00!
Miracle Two: She said she'd play with me!
Miracle Three: She did play with me!

                   Post-School Chatting with the Human

Why yes, I am fascinated by what you're telling me . Please go on . . .
Oh. Apparently I wasn't nearly as interested as I thought. You can stop now.
But thanks for the nice petting.

Sunday Selfie: I'm All About the Dots

I am hanging out on the quilt the Human bought not long ago because I think it looks really nice with my furs.

Don't worry, Ms. Stacy, we do not love it as much as the one YOU made.

But the dots? Well, I am just a leeetle bit fond of dem. Yes, I am

You expect me to eat leftover breakfast foods
for dinner? All right, I guess. But what kind of repast is that?
Okay, now there ya go. That's more like it.
And just look at my whisker!

Aww, Look at the Cute Woofie

This is our loyal friend and Viceroy, Jane, and her dad Harry.

She's so sweet & adorable. But I could totally take her, don't you think?

92° in the Shade

The Human says I should look at those
poor people in Texas and Florida and shut
my piehole* and count my blessings.

But I don't think it is really in the nature
of The Kitty to do that, right?

Sunday Selfie: Chair Fun

The very best thing about this chair is stealth-whapping the Human as she passes by.
Oh, c'mon! You know you'd do it too!

Thursday, September 7, 2017

This is how I found him when I came home this afternoon.

Then I came into the dining room and found broken glass from a candle holder he'd whapped off a table all over the floor.

I guess he was plumb wore out.

(Oh, by the way, eventually she inspected me to make sure I wasn't bleeding or nuffing. Took her long enough, though. ~S-t-K)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

(Belated) Sunday Selfie: Whisker-Boy Endures the Hots

It was 82 here today. Better. But still unacceptable.
The acceptable temperature range for His Majesty is 55-68.
I expect my preferences will be duly noted for tomorrow.

                          We're Having a Heat Wave . . .

My Caturday Afternoon
The more time I can spend unconscious,
the less I think about how murderously
hot it is.

Caturday Night Party
The nice people upstairs moved their little Pawty
to the sidewalk  outside our building's front door.
You gotta do what you gotta do.
And look! There's even a PortaPotty!
(And no, it's not raining (we wish!). Our window is dirty.)
(And yes, we did feel a little sneaky taking this picture.)

The Ninth Third Circle

The Human had the good sense to bring home the Big Fan from her office at school.
But it's not enough, Kitties, not nearly enough.

P.S. On Caturday:  But hey! No worries!
Our 110° only feels like 108°!

(Mostly) Wordless Wednesday

I gots two wiry-ish
Old ManCat
White Whiskas.

They're growing on me, though.

Ha ha ha ha ha!

My Adventure in the Pristine New Box

The Human bought something else she didn't
really need and of course it came in a large
and attractive box just purrfect for the Kitty.

I was having a spectacular time in the fresh
and unfurred/unflea'ed interior when I heard
raised voices right outside the bedroom window!

Nuffing is more urgent than potential drama, so of course
I sprang into Neighborhood Watch mode. Too bad it turned
out to be nothing interesting at all. Sigh.
I never get to have any good gossipy fun anymore.

Sunday Selfie: The Name's Lannister. . .

Spitty Lannister.

I'm here about the Iron Throne.

I heard there might be a vacancy.

Just Another Caturday Block Pawty:
Now with the Constabulary!

The Watcher

The Watchees
So the Humans and Dogs of Hugo Street and environs had a big pawty today (what you're seeing is the tail end of its dismantling). There were NO kitties invited. How outrageous is that? Not that any of us would have attended, you understand, but it would be nice to be asked. There were lots of cops around. I think it was for the food though, since no one here was protesting anything except that the deviled eggs ran out too fast.

                                       What a Week

Hello, Kitties. Sorry I've been gone for weeks and weeks three days. First, I had to help the Human make the bed, then I had to catch up on my sleep, and finally I had to take care of her when her very dear friend died after an all-too-brief battle with cancer. Things have reached a sort of equilibrium now, and I think it is time for her to start paying attention to ME again. In fact, it's always time for that.

Elapsed Eclipse

Oh, hello. Yes, there was a 75.5% eclipse today, even here in Foggy Bottom. The Human had quite a festive time of it at school, cavorting about with hundreds of 16-year-olds and swapping eclipse glasses and pinhole cameras around like so many lip glosses and mascara tubes. Surely I need not tell you how very excited I was.

Stealthy Sunday Selfie

I'll bet you would like to know how I took this Selfie from above and behind, but if I told you I'd have to send you some fleas so I will keep my seekrits.

Thanks to visitor Mary Mc. who reminded the Human about (food-grade) diatomaceous earth which the Human applied to my favorite sleeping spots today (hurray) and (embarrassingly) to my nether regions where I do not approve of being flea-combed. We had some right here--she got it out when someone reminded her about it a couple weeks ago, and then she promptly forgot about it. Another WMD in our little arsenal.

We're Still Here!

Well, me and my Fleeze are, anyway. And make no mistake about it: My Fleeze is real! We are working on committing mass flea-icide via Advantage, and Other Means (flea combing, etc.) They came this time last year too, and eventually they were deemed eradicated. The Big Mistake, which we will not repeat, was being overconfident and stopping the Advantage treatments sometime last fall. Once they are gone again, the Human says I will stay on an Advantage regimen so I will not be a tasty target in the future.
The Human has been pretty scarce as the first week of school commenced last Monday. On the plus side, she went to the special little store that carries Spot's Stew and she brought some home to me tonight. Nommity-nom-nom-nom.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful that I and my fleas can lie down and stretch right out wherever we darn well please.

Right now we are on her nice, big bed.

It's super comfortable since she bought that memory-foam topper, AND --as I'm sure you've noticed-- none of those annoying dishtowels.

Sleeping Weird?

So she says I am doing something "weird" with my head while I am napping tonight. I think she has a very narrow-minded definition of 'normal' if she thinks this is weird. I mean, Linda Blair doing that 360° spin, okay. This? Not even a blip on the radar of 'weird.'

Sunday Selfie: This Is My Life Now

Tomorrow, the Garage Trolls return, the Human returns to the daily grind, and I will be left to my own devices.
Plus, all my favorite sleeping places are covered with dishtowels now, so the Human can better track "flea activity." I feel like I'm in a Monty Python skit. Next thing I know, she'll have me wearing a bell. So humiliating.

                                   In the Catbird Seat

Really? You want me to exert myself to get this thing? Hmm. Maybe tomorrow.

Friday, August 11, 2017

They're gone, gone with the wind that swept through the Inner Sunset. Sixty-four glorious hours of peace and quiet reign in the Old Homestead.

The killjoy Human reminds me that this weekend is Outside Lands in the park, and there will be rock music rumbling throughout the avenues. No matter. It can't possibly be even 1/1,000th of the decibel level of the trolls in the garage.

Spitty Is Scared

So, as you saw a couple days ago, we has a porta-potty decorating our sidewalk. The reason it is there is that many workers are tearing our building apart and putting it back together again in a hopefully-more-earthquake-resistant way. The work (which started August 1) is expected to take three months, and, Kitties, let me tell you, it is loud and terrifying. I spent yesterday huddled at the Human's feet [He has never done this before 😢. -Ed.] and found it strangely comforting that she was not twitching or screaming. She just kept telling me the noises were not inside our apartment (but they are working directly below us, in the garage and storage areas, called a "soft story," which is why it needs retrofitting). They bang and crash and hammer and pound and drill and, nevermind what the Human says, *I* think the world is coming to an end.

                       Wordy Wednesday: A Miscellany

A Day at the Museum

Uh, okay. Whatever. I guess. Artistes. Go figure.
A series of sculptures by Sarah Lucas called "Good Muse."
I'm betting she might not be a Human?

"Mother and Child" . . . and CAT! Don't forget about the CAT,
Monsieur Renoir!

A Day in Sonoma

Where *I* was not invited.
Too bad, cause I'd have liked to scamper up this road . . .

. . . and visit *this* gallery!

This sign made the Human laugh a little.
I don't get it, though.

                            Won't You Be My Neighbor?

¯It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood . . .
So, let's make the most of this beautiful day . . .  ¯
Um, what the Sam Hill is that?
