Part II: Special Guest Baffing

The Human and her friend went to a tiny science museum in San Mateo County today, expecting a lot of fun interactive machines and exhibits.
What they did not expect were two resident bobcats (both rescued, separately, as wee cubs, desperately ill and injured). Because they imprinted on Humans, they were unable to be returned to their natural habitat, and so are happily cared for at the CuriOdyssey museum at Coyote Point.
Their enclosure looks small, but they have access to a larger outdoor area. The Human and her friend were very lucky--the place was nearly deserted on Thursday afternoon, and the bobcats were sweetly napping together. They are both boys, both about ten years old, and quite closely bonded to each other. Their names are Caro and Frankie. Unexpectedly, the Human ended up with more Baffing Videos.
(That's Frankie in the front)

(Ignore the nattering of the Humans)

Don't Know Why There's No Sun Up in the Sky

Still, neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom
of night stays Spitty from his appointed Baff.

Spittyless, but Not Kittyless

So the Human has been thinking back to some of the Kitties Who Came Before. This is picture of baby Clarkie and his Big Bro and Bestie Mr. Teeth, who was about 18 months old in this picture. The Human says they were both Very Good Boys, but that Mr. Teeth was the Cat of a Lifetime. Hmmmmm. I do not know exactly how I feel about that. I mean, there's still time, right? I'm not finished with her yet.

Claw Boy Snores

Well, Kitties, I was sleeping in extra-adorable fashion, and, yes, Spitty was snoring. But, as you will notice, one claw is bared to deter any reckless snuggling.

Sunday Selfie: Ranting About Rain

Caturday might have been our last day of sunshine for awhile. I enjoyed it.

Now, Kitties, after all these many years of drought in California, even I, given to complaining as I am, would not rant about the actual rain. No, what has drawn my ire are the weather forecasters, who seem to revel in transforming a simple rainstorm into breathless drama. No longer are we expecting heavy rain, or showers, or even a  storm. No, what we have now are "atmospheric rivers," suggesting that the Mighty Mississippi may be about to plop down upon us, and we'd all best head to Home Depot for ark-building supplies.

Finally, on a completely unrelated note, a couple of weeks ago someone tossed this cherry tomato on the roof of the garage outside our dining room window. So far, it's in pretty good shape.

Friday's This & That

So, we are pleased to award a Pair of Prizes from yesterday's post & comments:

For correctly identifying both figures and concocting a brief-but-credible tale to explain their interaction, a prize is hereby awarded to The Mom from William's Kith and Kin.

For truly outstanding Epic Verse (even though he misidentified one participant) a prize for Poet Laureate of the Cat Blogosphere is hereby awarded to TBT of Mark's Mews.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

So here are our Friendly Fill-In responses for today, courtesy of our furiends at 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs:

1. I believe my IQ is higher than the Human's.

2. I need to go Marie Kondo on my nothing. It's the Human that needs MK.

3. It does no good to ask nicely. You have to demand!

4. I find would like to find managing my staff to be a walk in the park.

P.S.  The figure on the right in yesterday's post is Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Justice extraordinaire. Her companion is Gus Fring, dapper but implacable villain on Breaking Bad. The small container, of course, is a bucket of Los Pollos Hermanos's finest fried chick-hen, perhaps with a sprinkling of secret seasoning, MOL!

Hot Stuff

Part the First
Sometimes a boy needs a different radiator
and it would have been nice if the Human could have
foreseen this eventuality and provided a nice beddy
for me so I did not have to absorb the warms
while lying on the hard floor. Don't you think?

Part the Second
Over the past couple of years, the Human
has been the recipient of two wildly diverse Action Figures.
She has chosen to pose them in an artful little tableau
on the dining room plate ledge. I don't get it.
Perhaps there might be a prize of some sort
for a good story?

Stepping Up

Today we have a THEME--the Human tried hard to find a good alliterative phrase for our title, but she's lost a step [Oh, ha ha ha, Spitty. ~Ed.] or two since she retired and she could not manage it. But I digress.
Our theme is climbing. I may be a senior kitty, but I can still get to the tippy top of my kitty tree.

These nearby spiffy steps have been there for ages, but the cool tiling only happened about 10 years ago. It takes a lot of climbing to get to the tippy top, though.
(You can click to biggify.)

Oh,and since what goes up must come down, here are a few  remnants of a big tree across from us that partly split and fell, completely blocking our little street during the big storm last week. We woke up to the sounds of firefighters and their floodlights and chain saws at 3:30 a.m. in the pouring rain. However much the city pays them, it isn't enough.

Concentration

I have to grip the curtain with both paws to inflict the maximum damage. Closing my eyes helps me achieve that perfect grip. We need replacements; I want a new challenge.

(Belated) Sunday Selfie:
O Happy Sun That Has Such Warmliness in It

What's that you say? 'Warmliness' isn't a real word?
Oh pish-tosh. It's a word if I say it's a word.

Gotcha!

Rain, rain,
Go away.
It's fevver time--
I need to play!

We had a big burning ball in the sky today, Kitties. It was awesome!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
We love you all!

(Very Nearly) Wordless Wednesday

Do you know what she wanted to title this post? Do you?
"RugRat"!! Kitties, I put my paw down, yes I did.

Spitty's Favorite Show: Tiny Kittens TV

Every night before we go to bed, we tune in to Tiny Kittens TV on YouTube. It's a remarkable cat rescue organization in British Columbia and right now their live stream is focused on a litter of five almost-5-week-old kittens and their mama.  In today's picture, I am watching a baby panther climb into the Tiny Taco Truck where they prepare delicious meals. This is one show the Human and I can watch together with no argument. We think probably a lot of you already know the Tiny Kittens, but those of you who don't will probably enjoy dropping in on them now and then!

Just Follow the Paw

So here are our Friendly Fill-In responses for today, courtesy of our furiends at 15 & Meowing and Four Legged Furballs:

1. I want to make the Humans bend instantly to our will.
2. My paws are purrfection.
3. A day in my life always includes at least a small dollop of Tru Blood, and by that you know I mean Human, right?
4. Good things happen to those who seize their opportunities.

Antidote to Tuesday's Travesty

And here I am, all smooth and shiny and squeaky clean.
I guess I'll keep her a while longer.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Spitty Is Kneady

Even though this is something that, like, every other kitty
in the universe does, it is something *I* have really only
started in the last year or so. The Human says it is freaking
adorable, and for once we agree.

Here is a little 'speriment:

Things That Annoy Me #3

Does she *have* to take my picture when I am stuffed into my box,
looking like some ratty old chinchilla coat?

Daily Disappointments #4, now with Bonus!

Wouldn't you think that as I go to great lengths to place myself oh-so-conveniently at the Human's side, that she *might* reach for the brushie as I request, and welcome my comforting presence as she begins to do her shudder-inducing tax stuff? Wouldn't you think I would provide a pleasant distraction from all that misery?

I mean, that's what *I* thought. But did she even open the drawer where the brushie is kept to offer me some affection?

Well, I think you all see where this is going. Thankfully, we do have a little Bonus today!

So here are our Friendly Fill-In responses for last Friday (yes, we *do* know it's Monday now--not the Kitty's fault), courtesy of our furiends at 15 & Meowing and Four Legged Furballs:

1. & 2.  Superbowl Sunday bores me.
3. If you have feline DNA, you have everything.
4. My skill set could get me a job at the Blood Bank.

Sunday Selfie: Give Her an Inch . . .

And the Old Bat will take three days. Honestly, I was trying to be nice, cause she was so "busy" and "tired" and stuff. And look: It's Sunday night and we haven't posted since Thursday
So anyway, you may notice that she made her goal of getting all the Crispmouse decorations put away before the Super Bowl. In fact, she felt smugly superior last night when she passed a house with all its outdoor displays still brightly shining.
I will be working on whipping her back into shape for the coming week.
