Tales of the Tailios

Gigi has quite a nice tailio, I think. It is thick, and multicolored, and contrasts nicely with her snowy furs. Mine is so-so; it's long enough I guess, but not floofy, and so looks a bit anemic for my body type. I think I would be handsomer if I had more heft in my rear appendage.

We've Been Good, Santa!

Here it is the week before Christmas, and what is simple-minded Buddy posting about? Right! Me whapping ornaments and him smashing angels. Get with the program, brother!

I am going to have to be more strict about previewing and editing his posts.

But to do that, I need to stay awake, and napping is so tempting....

Sunday Selfie: So Many Things, So Little Time

You already know what a Very Good Boy I am, so that's not really the issue here.

No, the real issue is how irresponsible and unreasonable it is of the Human to put out all these Angels and expect Gigi and me to show the kind of superfeline restraint that should not be expected from even the most domesticated of kitties, which we certainly are not!

Now Gigi is more an ornament-batting kind of gal. Me, I prefer my victims to have faces, and to silently scream in shock and dismay when they are rudely dumped on their keisters (do angels even have those?)

So far, I have spared them. But temptation is strong and there are still many days till Crispmouse. Stay tuned!

Close Encounters of the Buddy Kind

Since arriving here this summer, the Overgrown Tabby and I have kept a respectful distance between us. I do whap him if he gets in my way (I was here first, and I'm a feisty girlcat; he came a month later, and is a big, lumbering, not-all-that-bright boy. I mean, when he crosses my path without prior approval, I hit him). Isn't that the Way of the Girlcat?

So imagine how surprised our Human was this morning to find us very nearly snuggling on the bed, as the sunshine streamed in after days of gloom. It was all going really well, too, until Buddy overstepped his bounds and stuck his nosicle in places it absolutely did not belong. Did I whap him? I will let you draw your own conclusions about that.

Enough of That Overgrown Tabby!
*I* Am Adorable, You Know

When I first got here, I did not permit the Human to pet me, even though I really did want to. After a while, I decided maybe it might feel very nice, and it does. I go all melty and purry. You-Know-Who gets all jealous though, and comes and butts his giant head on her arm so he can get his share. I am not thrilled by this, but she says, I have two hands, Gigi. And sure enough, she does.

'Get Off'

Why should I get off? Does anything look broken to you? Out of place?

I will take your request under advisement,
but I warn you that you are unlikely to prevail.

Sunday Selfie: Budzilla Whaps the Wise Guys

My, my. What have we here?

His gift wasn't good enough.  Worse,
it wasn't for me. Whap! One down.

It's a little hard to see, but down near
my paws, Mary & Joseph got whapped too.

My work here is done.
For now.

P.S. He didn't tell you that he flipped Baby Jesus into a face-plant on the manger floor, did he? I thought not.

Sunday Selfie: Synchronized Sleeping

Here we are again after a long week of the Human's failing to heed our desperate pleas to post, as we are hoping not to repeat that four-month absence from our still-infant blog (the title of which I find unacceptably exclusionary. ~Buddy, the Trustworthy Tabby)

At least she has acceded to our more-than-reasonable request this evening. Now we must lobby hard to get her to help us visit our new friends, who must wonder about our enforced silence. It just isn't right, Kitties.

Where's.My.Breakfast?

It's 7:28 a.m. and she's on the computer. Does she not understand that I have not eaten a morsel since maybe 10:30 p.m., like four days ago.

A few weeks back, the Stabby Place Person said I was getting to be the "F"-word (no, not that one, Sillies--the three-letter one). Does that mean I am no longer going to get my foods, I wonder?

I confess I am more than a little worried, my furiends.

He Licked My Precious Furs
And I Will Never Be the Same

We were enjoying a companionable post-breakfast lie-about
when I fell asleep on the bed. In the depths of my slumbers, I heard an unmistakable slurping.
I thought, "Oh good! Stinky Boy is taking a baff!"
Oh Kitties, I have never been so completely wrong in my life!

And here is the fresh evidence. I lodged a complaint with the local magistrate (okay, just the Human) who took an official photograph of the still-damp incriminating evidence. Believe me, Kitties, that wet spot did not come from this sugar-and-spice girlcat. Surely it will dry, right?

Sunday Selfie: Happy Halloween,
Kitties & Humans

We have a nice treat spidey for later. We hope you do, too.

Buddy:  I wish we didn't have to share him. He's not that big.

Gigi:  Maybe the Human will get us another one.

Buddy:  Yeah, but she'd dead him for us, so it wouldn't be any fun.

Gigi:  Oh, like you've ever killed anything by yourself!

Buddy:  I'm a lover, not a fighter.

Gigi:  You're just a chubby pacifist. Are you even a real cat?

Buddy:   Well, now you've hurt my feelings

Gigi:  Q.E.D.

Must I Really Change My Header
to Add His Picture?

I mean, just look at me! I am delicate and purrfect in every way. He is large and kind of smelly and will take up so much room that *my* picture will have to be smaller. Does he really even care? And if I must give him room on the header, will he also expect to have a voice on *my* blog? And I feel quite panicky when I think about whether or not there will be a blog-name change! Pardon me now while I rest.

I am . . .

I Like Him Best When I'm Asleeping

He's touching me, right? I know he's touching me. HEY, BOYCAT! Did I say you could touch me?

P.S.  As always, CK is right. Poor Buddy is an UNCAT. His picture needs to get up top PDQ.

Buddy & Gigi, Month 5

"But this is my chair!"
"WAS your chair."

"Okay, THIS is my chair."
"For now."

Sunday Selfie:
Buddy, the Beast in the Bedroom

Well, Furiends, as you can see, my life has been thrown into chaos and distress. In *my* bedroom (there is only ONE in this apartment and it is mine-all-mine) lurks a large, lumbering Beast called (ironically, I presume) "Buddy." He's twice my size and real stinky, and he's been here for like three years already, or maybe I mean weeks? Well, it seems like years. I don't care much for him.

Sometimes I hang out around his partially-closed door and sniff and scream a little. Tonight he was playing loudly with his (my*) fevvers and I trotted right in. We both hissed once and then I ran away right quick before he could EAT me.

The Lady here says eventually we will get used to each other, but I am unconvinced.

*Everything here is mine. I was here first!

Sunday Selfie: The Open Door

When the Lady got home from dinner this evening, she said, "Well, Gigi, I've had enough of this" and she lured me down the hallway with the Dot.  A door which had been closed since last Wednesday afternoon had mysteriously been opened, and I came face-to-face with this:

Dear Cod, Kitties! What is it?

The Human Speaks

Hi Friends! Well I guess we confused everyone, didn't we?

For this to make any sense (Gigi: Rolls eyes and says, Too late for that!), I refer you to Savannah's Pawtracks' post on June 7 ("Another wounded castle guest"). In it, she tells the story of a lovely tabby boy named Buddy and how Mom L and Dad P and their friend saved him.

Now, Buddy was destined to join Gigi at this castle, and I got the silly notion to do some stoopy convoluted riddle about "Peggy Sue" and Buddy Holly and who knows what all, and it was pretty much a giant fail. (Gigi says, Told you so. These people and kitties are not all Old as Dirt like you, Lady.)

In any case, indeed Buddy arrived here Wednesday, and earlier this afternoon passed the 48-hour mark. He has taken up residence Under The Bed, although today he actually emerged while I was in the room to eat his lunch. He kept a beady eye on me, and slunk back UTB when he finished. He is understandably rattled by the events of the last 2-3 weeks. But he is an indoor boy now.

This is the only picture I have gotten since he arrived. It was taken Wednesday night, and it's not very clear. What *is* clear is his skepticism about his new Human.

We'll post again when there's some action around here. And I'll return the controls to Gigi, who is somewhat miffed that she's not been allowed in *her* bedroom to see what's up in there.

Sunday Selfie: I'm a Flirt

Surely that can't come as a surprise
considering the former feline tenant of this establishment.
Am I right?

Sunday Selfie: Ready, Set, Go

I need my mousie (at lower right). I'm a good girl, I am, and I haven't had my playtimes in two whole hours. It's way more fun to play with the mousie if someone is waving him about and making him fly. The Lady went out today and I was here by myself for hours and hours and hours and hours. I call it borderline kitty neglect is what I call it. Still, I am growing a bit fonder of her and some days I follow her from room to room, if only to keep my eye on her.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everybody!

Please, my dear new furiends, do not misinterpret the title of this post! Probably you are thinking *I* am thankful to be here? Well, maaaaaaaaaaybe so. But really it is the Human Lady who should be the thankful one! After all, I am a beautiful and charming LadyCat and she is fortunate I have deigned to offer her the opportunity to win my affections, and she is making some small progress in doing so. I like to play and I like to eat and I like my creature comforts, so it really isn't all that hard to win me over! 😻

Sunday Selfie: My First Post

I am Gigi. I am a girlcat, a Calico, about 7 years old. In the Long Ago times, I was probably someone's pet. Somehow, though, I ended up in a feral colony in the East Bay for several years. About three months ago, my heroes Linda and Peter (aka Mom L and Dad P on Savannah's Paw Tracks) took me home to foster me and see if I could re-learn to live in a house with Humans. I did pretty well, and just about the time they were starting to look for someone to adopt me, the Lady who lives here was starting to look for a new kitty to love. (While Linda and Peter worked with me, she had a foster cat named Maggie for about two months.) But finally, earlier this week, I arrived at my new furever home.

Last Tuesday afternoon, I was escorted to this Lady's house in San Francisco. To tell you the whole truth, I was maybe just the littlest bit high on something, as I was just a wee bit uncooperative about getting into my carrier, and I don't really remember exactly how it was that I got here. I do know I haven't seen the sun since!

See how happy and comfortable I look? Well, that's because I was still just the tiniest bit high as a kite, and everything seemed purrfect! I was seeing all the rainbows!

The next couple of days were maybe not quite as glorious as that memorable Tuesday, and I confess I was UTB for substantial portions of those days. Still, the service has been excellent; the food is fresh and plentiful, litter deposits are whisked away within minutes, and playtimes are reasonably frequent (and I have to admit that it is I who sometimes declines to participate).

I really love this little tent. It may look like cheap nylon, but I am sure it really is made of impenetrable iron that will protect me from invading fingers and hands. I don't mind her looking at me, or talking to me, or even singing to me (right now she is alternating between Blondie's Tide Is High and Brahms Lullaby), but get too close or too grabby, and all bets are off. I have a mean left hook, which I have (thus far) had no reason to deploy.

I have explored the apartment a little bit, but mostly I hang out in the bedroom (which is mine now, as the Lady has banished herself to the blow-up bed in the dining room. Good thing, too, because if she hadn't I would have had to). Overall, things have gone pretty well. I guess there was somekitty named Spitty who lived here before me, and he taught her very well how to respect boundaries or pay the consequences. I thank him for that as it should make my job easier, don't you think?

Well, that's it for now. The Lady says I can talk to you next Sunday, or maybe even before that if I am very, very good. We'll have to wait and see what happens next. I am super glad to meet all of you!

Soon . . .

. . . but not today!

My lovely girl was unimpressed with the idea of getting into a carrier today (Monday, May 10), but she will be arriving this week! I think she is channeling Spitty, who had a firm policy of non-cooperation.

Sunday Selfies: So Long, Farewell,
Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye . . .

Well, Friends, I am going home with my Mama tomorrow. I am really excited, but maybe also just a little bit sad. I have grown fond of my Hostess, and she says she will miss me. But Mama says the Hostess will come see our new apartment and visit me! I've had a really nice time here for the last two months. Don't worry about the Hostess, though: She won't be all alone for very long at all! But she will tell you more about that in a week or so. It was fun getting to meet you. And who knows? I might even drop in from time to time and check up on efurryone!

Here are a few pictures from my time here, and one video so you don't think I sleep *all* the time, even if I am a leetle bit zaftig!

Sunday Selfie: I Like It Here

I confess I have come to have a certain fondness for the Hostess. She is very good with the foods and the nice soft places to sleep, and the cuddles. She's a little less good about playing with my favorite wand toys, though she will do if I ask nicely.
My time with her is growing short, though, as my Real Mama will be coming to get me a week from today. The Hostess is also looking forward to the exciting arrival of prospective furever cats! But she'll have more to say about that after I take off for my new digs.
I think I look super pretty in this picture, sleeping next to her on my very own chair. I hope all the Kitties and the Humans are having a nice weekend. I know I am!

Sunday Selfie: Mama Was Here!

My Mama came over to visit me on Friday night and she had the bestest news!
She found a new apartment for us to live in starting May 1st, and it even has
a nice back yard with a garden!

I am so excited 'cause I miss her so much! This lady here, my Hostess, isn't mean or stingy with the foods or brushies or nuffing like that, but she is not my Mama and she just doesn't know all the secret places I like to be petted or the special codes I have with my Mama. I mean, it's not her fault or anything, and I have been well-cared-for, but . . . I will be so happy to be with my real Mama, real soon!

Monday Morning Food Coma

I seem to have recovered my feline sense of calm and comfort. This lady is good with the foods, and the pets, and the playtimes and the brushies, but not so great with this blogging stuff. I never know when I might have the opportunity to chat with y'all.
I don't really have too much to say except my Real Mom* visits me once a week. I really, really lubs her and I can't wait for her to find a new home for us. Meanwhile, this place is cushy enough.
Also, she says this is a Tardy Sunday Selfie, whatever that means. Nobody tells me nuffing.

*
See? My Mom loves me lots.
