I Need a Lawyer

I was promised new kitty grass today.

Yes, I know I frowed up the old stuff on the living room rug yesterday, and for some reason you seem to think that vitiates our agreement.

But I am almost certain the law is on my side here.

P.S. Don't forget to leave a comment on yesterday's post! I want the Human to have to part with the whole hundred!

Honoring Sparkle

She walked in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Met in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

              ~Lord Byron

Sparkle was all about making a difference in this world for kitties who aren't as fortunate as she was, and as most of us are. So I convinced the Human to join in the Commentathon today (to be fair, it really wasn't very hard) to raise funds for Tabby's Place. We will donate $1 per comment (up to $100), so c'mon kitties--start meowin'! We will leave comments open here till Monday night at 11:59 p.m.

Was This Trip Really Necessary?

The Human may say no,
but I know that you all will understand
that it absolutely was.

The Very Beauteous Miss Katie Isabella sent me a surprise gift this week just because she is so loverly and generous. Can you tell I lubz Ms. Mousie already?

Our Friend Sparkle

The Human helped me draw this little picture of Sparkle tonight because we love her, and we will miss her, and we want to remember and honor her.
We think maybe there will be an extra star in the sky tonight.

Amorous Avatars

When CK popped in for a little visit this afternoon, we went for a stroll around Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park.

We cuddled for awhile near the Chinese Pavillion and took a nice warm nap in the grass.

It was delightful!

Please Don't Think

that because I am accepting your pettings I have forgiven you for returning to work.

What do those stoopy teenagers offer that *I* cannot do better?

This & That & That & This

I want to thank the wonderful kitties at 15andmeowing for giving me this really fun award! I must link to my favorite song (easy peasy) and choose some blogs to share this award with (less easy peasy). It's supposed to be ten but I am going to cheat and choose five. They are:
The Celestial Kitties
Emma and Buster
Lone Star Cats
Mickey's Musings
                                                  Savannah's Paw Tracks

Okay, *one* of our favorites is Van Morrison's Brown-Eyed Girl which you can listen to here! Any Kitty Furiend who does not yet have this award, please take it and share your favorite song with us.

My Beloved Katie Isabella invited me and the Human to pawticipate in the Writing Process Blog Tour. We are almost too embarrassed to respond, and if we didn't love her and her mommy so much, we probably wouldn't, but the plain fact is we are putty in their hands, so here goes:

Question 1:  What are we working on?
We are working on getting a post up alllllllmost every day, though not so successfully (we have posted 203 times in 230 days. By my way of thinking we have missed practically a whole month! I can hardly bear to think of how these stats will look by Christmas!) I don't call that "almost every day" but the Human just tells me to shut my furry little mouf.
Question 2:  Why do we write what we do?
Well, we try (with some modest success) to be funny and lighthearted 98% of the time. We think almost every kitty and Human can use a smile in their day and if we manage that, it's all good. Also, the Human has too much serious stuffs like Hamlet and accreditation reports in her day already to try to write thoughtful little essays like some of our favorite bloggers do.
Question 3:  How does our writing process work?
The Human comes home from work. We look through pictures we've recently taken. (She almost never creates posts ahead of time so we are always posting on the fly.)  We purray inspiration will strike. If it doesn't within 10 minutes or so, then *I* don't get to have a blog post that day. Does that sound fair to you? No, I don't think so either. But, in that totally meaningless and irritating modern cliché, It is what it is.

Kitties, Can You Spell "Microclimate"?

—> See this pretty blue sky? This is the neighborhood where the Human works.

—> See this ominous solid white fog bank? Yes, just over that hill is our neighborhood, where the  don't shine.

(Almost) B/W Sunday

The Human may imagine she is out and about, away from the Watchful Eye of the Kitty . . . but Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

A ManCat & His Croc

As many of you know, last weekend was the Cat Scouts' sojourn to the Bayou. I may or may not have had a few too many mancatly adult beverages before I caught this great souvenir for the Human. Sunday morning, I teleported home in my Tunnel, but when I got here, I was shocked to see the following transformation:
To be honest, I really can't remember Saturday night very well. Do you think Austin was just pulling a fast one on his poor hungover roomie? Or could the croc have somehow mutated during the teleportation?

Triptych

It's Me                                              Photoshocked Me                       Not Me

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Just Last Caturday,

the Beauteous Raven from Indulged Furries posed the following question:

"I wonder though, are you supposed to be on the table?"

It has taken me three days to stop laughing long enough to compose my reply, a memorable quote from many years ago, first spoken by a man who is now my idol:

I do what I want
When I want
And nobody tells me NO.

Watchoo Want, Human Lady?

I am gettin' ready for a pretty long nap here and frankly I'd appreciate a little privacy.

Yes, I am grateful for your assistance with my trip to the Bayou Country with Sammy and the other Cat Scouts this weekend (yay! you finally helped me!). But it was quite tiring fighting off those 'gators, and one might've chased me into my Tunnel for the return trip.

We might have a photo of that event available at a later time. Like, tomorrow. And I want to thank my buddy Austin Towers for sharing a cabin with me and being such a fun pal!

Human, I do want you to work on being able to help me with Cat Scouts *and* my blog, though. 'Cause right now, you kind of fail at multitasking. And really, stop using "work" as an excuse. It's lame.

Catching Up

Grass? Where's my grass? I was promised grass! It's been two days since I horked any up and you said I could have it back. Where is it, huh? Huh?

Has anyone else noticed that it has been a whole freaking week since my picture has appeared on my own blog? Please remember the blog is called SpittySpeaks and not HumanSpeaks or OtherCatsSpeak or anything else.

Yes, yes, of course the firemen were good-looking! It's like a department entrance requirement. Surely everyone knows that! Honestly, Kitties, your female Humans need some ice water or a fan or something.

Ring Around the Rosie/Pockets full of Posies

Ashes, Ashes
All Fall Down!

Or something like that.

So the Human did an unbelievably embarrassing and stoopy thing yesterday. She was waiting to cross the street in front of her school, and she waited while a car and then a fire truck passed. Then she started toward the crosswalk and suddenly she was flailing and falling down on the sidewalk for no apparent reason! She ended up face-first on the pavement with all her stuff scattered to the four winds in the street as she eventually realized she'd caught her foot in a sawhorse-type parking sign that someone had laid flat on the sidewalk. STUPID someone! She had been looking at traffic and failed to notice it there, lying in wait.

Just as she was internally assessing whether she could, or even wanted to, get up, she heard the thunder of running footsteps and looked up to see four--yes FOUR--firemen who'd leaped off their truck just up the block to come to her aid. While some helped her get up, others picked up all her scattered stuff including all her change (nickels, dimes, quarters, etc.) that had rolled away under parked cars. It was, in retrospect, pretty hilarious. The one fireman said he'd seen the whole thing--foot catching in sign, windmilling arms, fruitless efforts to prevent the inevitable, the SPLAT! He said for a second he thought she'd catch herself--but, alas, no. Fortunately, she doesn't think she did any lasting harm--except to her pride of course, and a large and very tender bruise on her knee.

She went to work, and the new Woody Allen movie, and out to dinner and finally came home and resorted to ibuprofen and ice. She mostly stayed home today and rested the knee. But notice that she failed to help me do my blog post last night, and even tonight's is all about her

I ask you, Kitties: Would any of US ever trip over a sign? Hah! We has the graceful.

Semi-Wordy Wednesday

Inspired by those fantastic Kitties at The Cat on My Head, the Human said we could sponsor a foster-BroCat for me from those wonderful people at PAWS.

This sweet boy is Buster, who is 14 and ended up at PAWS when his people couldn't take him to their new home. You can read more about him here. We think he is a furry handsome guy and hope he finds a new furever home very soon. But till then, he'll be "ours."

Guest Cats Tuesday

Although I am an only kitty, that does not mean that my Human does not disport herself with other felines from time to time. As long as the quality of my care (foods, playtime, brushies) does not suffer unduly, I allow these harmless flirtations. We have, so to speak, an "Open Relationship."

On Sunday, the Human spent a delightful evening with Peter and Linda, Staff of Savannah and Sage. The girls are adorable and Sage permitted the Human to pet her a bit. Savannah was allowing friendly proximity until the Human made the rookie mistake of ::horrors:: touching her sweet paw, which sent her scurrying from the room.

S & S seem to have come to some detente in which they can peaceably share a room, if not each other's affections. That's Sage in the rear, tarting it up for the camera. And that's Savannah there in the front, giving the Human her best slitty-eyed stare of icy disapproval:

Maybe these two pretty girls would like to come visit me?

So Norty

I scolded the Human for making this little movie on her way home tonight, but by then it was Just.Tooooooo.Late.

Hey! Human Lady! Hey! Hey!

Why did you put that brush down?! Pick it up! Pick it up!!
