This fine little ditty was composed recently by the Dad of Aggie, Wally, and Miss Madie Mitten Kitten as he attempted to navigate his way through his lengthy and cat-strewn hallway.
It is sung to the tune of The Lion Sleeps Tonight:
In the hallway, the narrow hallway,
The kitties sprawl tonight.
Stepping over their inert bodies,
The kitties flop tonight.
CHORUS:
Oh, you'reinmyway, you'reinmyway,
you'reinmyway, your'reinmyway....
The kitties sprawl tonight.
Stepping over their inert bodies,
The kitties flop tonight.
CHORUS:
Oh, you'reinmyway, you'reinmyway,
you'reinmyway, your'reinmyway....
Isn't that a happy little song, Kitties? Ha ha meow!

So the other evening the Human and a friend went to the reception and preview sale sponsored annually by the Friends of the Library. They were expecting a nice cocktail and a nosh as they quietly perused stacks of well-ordered books.
So here was what they found instead:
So here was what they found instead:
Yes, a veritable football field of unsorted books (unless you really count "fiction" as a reasonable category--hello, strange bedfellows Danielle Steele and Dostoevsky). Crazed dealers shoved stacks of books and CDs into shopping carts and ran over toes on their way to the travel section.
The cocktails had not materialized by the time the Human and her friend ran screaming from that warehouse on a drafty pier and found succor at a nice Mexican restaurant still having Happy Hour.

This charming little rest stop outside the book sale contained what must be the least comfortable little benches ever. And Cod help you if you leaned back and toppled over onto the concrete.

This caps it. You live in Weirdsville.
Also, the song is WONDERFUL.
Also ALSO, FDW is featured on the blog today in FULL SPLENDOUR.
Brilliant post! We LOVE the song and Ă„iti is no doubt going to be yelling it at us loudly. Ten maybe we won't like it so much.... And that little book sale looks wonderful to her too. To us - well no, we like shelves without books. They get in our way........
Around here, it's the dog lying in the hallway - and my human swears that one day she is going to trip on her and hurt herself!
We loved the song. MUCH better than what the much-water-sprayed girl sang here.
Say, maybe that last thing was really meant as a human hamster ball. Did your human try it? It might have been fun.
Oh, and about Elliott's post--my mom was too lazy to get a photo of me. What else.
That's a fabulous song. Perhaps you could organise a singalong, Spitty. Get all the cats in the blogosphere and their humans to agree on a day and time when they'll all sing it at the top of their voices. I'm sure that between us we could just about cover the globe.

Excellent little ditty! We don't blame your Mom for finding a nice quiet "happy hour" to recover from that bedlam!
Love the ditty Spitty. I think mum deserved happy hour after looking through all those books. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly.
I like that song but I think I may soon get tired of it if mum keeps singing it to me.
I LOVE that ditty! I know I lay sprawled everywhere and unsuspecting people have to levitate if they cmd upon me without noticing till it's almost too late! That is a charming rest spot!
I like the song, it's better than the one with the sleepy lion! ...and now it sticks in my head...
Gotta step OVE the kitties; they get really mad when someone steps too close to a tailio!
Nice little diddy indeed. Wow, those chairs are just asking for trouble. We'd be out of that nut house to.
We love The Lion Sleeps Tonight....except when Meowma sings it. We wonder how many humans sit on those seats on a hot summer day with shorts?
purrs,
Jasmine, Joey, Eddie & Rosie
I’m sneezing just looking at all those dusty books. AH-CHOOOO! Excuse me. Nah, I still like my “in the litter the clumping litter the kitteh pees tonight” better.

Love your song! Now it's playing in my head :-)
That's a lot of books. If I were there, I'd run to bathroom. (I don't know why, but books make me want to go to bathroom.)
What a great song! And what an awful way for your mom to spend time away from you. Other than being with her friend, I'm sure her time would have been better spent with someone's favorite brush in hand.
I love book sales, but dealers can be very pushy and ruin the fun. That is an odd place to sit. http://15andmeowing.com
Now that is a few books!
I enjoyed your new song Spitty.
Oh no! Thanks for that earworm!
Now Mom sings it to us when we don't move out of her way fast enough :o
Mom loves books, but she can feel the crick in her neck from trying to read sideways,
all the way to where we live, heehee
Don't suppose your Mom brought you a snack from the restaurant?
Purrs Georgia and Julie,

We love Aggie's, Wally's, and Madie's daddy's itty bitty witty kitty ditty, Spitty.
What a sale! Never seen one like it before.
The mom says she woulda ran outta there too! Crazy! And now she's gonna sing that song to us all night.
Your human did not topple, did she? That would NOT be good
We lub the ditty! Mom bean says that is one crazy sale and she'd rather have a margarita too.
Sasha, Sami, & Saku
I laughed out loud at the song and had to sing it to my roommate so she'd know why I was cackling! MOL
Love the song Spitty! Thank cod for Margaritas to wash that fiasco from your Mom's brain!
Oh Mum says thanks for the earworm!!! She also thinks she's got that many books on her kindle!
All-in-all, not the day your human expected. Hope yours at home was better, Spitty. Excellent song. Our hallway is often the same at night, especially when Giulietta and Fiona sprawl out. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
