The Human:
Last Monday, in the throes of sadness over the departure of Spitty only two days before, and feeling the emptiness in my house, I got a phone call from a woman I know from feeding the McChonkersons.
"Hi," she said hesitantly. "I know you just lost your kitty, but.... Well, I hope you don't feel this is insensitive, but we need a foster placement for a kitty whose devoted owner is not able to have Maggie with her for a month or two, and I was thinking...."
Honestly, I couldn't get the "Yes" out of my mouth fast enough. It was perfect--helping the kitty and her owner, and having a furry friend around to care for and talk to. She arrived Friday. A Transition Cat, so to speak.
Maggie:
Hmmm, we'll see. So far, so good. I am super-confused though. After being at the rescue place for 5 days and getting used to that, now I find myself in a stranger's bedroom! And I don't even remember getting all nipped out and picking somebody up in the backyard!
I had a rocky first night Friday, but yesterday my Real Mom came to visit me and so now I feel better. I am eating and getting pets and brushies and all in all, life could be worse. This lady seems okay, but I am withholding judgment till I've been here for maybe a full 48 hours!
This person assures me I will have a chance to talk some more in a few days. I mean, she seems trustworthy, right? I'm sure she would never make an empty promise!

Maggie, we are delighted to meet you. We are sorry you cannot be with your human for a little while, but we know you are in good hands and will be well cared for. You are a very lucky lady indeed.
To Mary: We are pleased you liked our post for Spitty today. He was an exceptional kitty, and we were all happy to know him and be his viceroys for Treasure Island.
Love and hugs from our mom and all of us, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer & Kizmet
Maggie:
Well this is an interesting "Temp" they sent over. Maggie I think it will be an OK situation as we have heard the person there is good with the needs of a cat, but, may be a bit annoying at times. Just meowin what we heard ya know.
Mary:
What an interesting turn. We think it will be nice to have the patter of cat feet around the place and bet you agree.
sent wif lubz from spit-tay.............
Hi Maggie!
As Gidget said, I am sure Spitty had a paw in this. He knows you need a little furry friend to help you through your grief and saw this as the ideal opportunity.
This happens. We lost Peanut and promised we would not get another cat unless it was in desperate need. One week later a desperate call came about a senior who risked death because his mum could not take him to her new accommodation. Of course we took him on.
Maggie, you are going to be OK. Yeah things are confusing but, trust us, you will be safe until you can go home. If for any reason you don't get to go home again you have a safe and good place to rest your paws. Just hold out for the best treats.
Miss Maggie, a Gorgeous Ginger Lady! Welcome and if you need help keeping the human in line, just let us know.
Oh sweet Maggie, I'm so glad you're there sweet girl, you two really need each other right now so it's totally purrfect!!!
We hope you have a very enjoyable "month or two" with the Human, Maggie!
Maggie! Nice to meet you! We are so happy that you are Ms Mary's temp! You know that she is well trained, and has all the "right stuff" to tide you over! We are also very happy that your purrsonal human came to visit! We can't wait to see you more! We hope you have a marvellously happy time!
How kind of you to help a kitty in need even though your heart is broken. Maggie is a beauty. XO
We think the two of you will help each other out. 😘
How nice to meet you, Maggie! It sounds like you and your temporary human are actually helping each other, although you may not realize it fully yet.
This is SO wonderful. You both need each other!
I do believe this is a win-win for you, Maggie and your Temp-Mom!
You are very pretty, I might add:)
Maggie - welcome aboard. You have large paws to fill.
To be honest wiv ya, Spitty soldiered on in vain over many years to train this Human and, in spite of his very best efforts, she often disappointed him by demonstrating that she had things to do other than respond to his every wish and desire. But, if keep your expectations realistic, I'm confident that you'll have a splendid time in Chez Spitty. Enjoy!

Maggie, how lovely to meet you. We're sure you'll settle in soon enough to your temporary lodgings. Perhaps you'll even help to ease your foster human's grief a little bit. :-)
Hi Maggie! What a blessing it is to see you and know that you will be well cared for while you wait! I'm looking forward to hearing more about you!
Welcome Maggie! This sounds like a win/win for everybody!
The Florida Furkids
You know Spitty set this all up for you, right?? He knew you would need a fur companion for a while.
Catzowey Miss Maggie - your Temp-A-Kitty Agency did good work!
Hi Maggie! Let me just say this - you landed - even though it's temporarily - in the BEST place you could be since you can't be with your "real Mom". This lady is super kind and needs all the hugs you can give her just like you need them too. You two will get along fine. I'm happy for BOTH of you!
Hugs, Teddy
Welcome Maggie, to the world of talking cats! Soon you will learn how to post comments, complaints, compliments, and advice to other cats. It may be a bit of a learning curve, but I'm sure your housemate will help you express yourself online. She's quite the writer so something will definitely rub rub off onto you. I was very happy to hear that you and Mary will be roommates, at least for a while. If you need anything, just crawl up in her lap, look endearingly into her eyes, and your every wish will be granted!
Congratulations to both you and Maggie. A ginger female...very unusual. We here at Savannah's palace look forward to hearing the latest tidbit!!!
Oh Maggie - it is so good to meet you ! And to know that you and your Purrson will be getting back together in a bit of time, so you have one less thing to worry about, and you will be helping Spitty's Mom, who, you will learn is a purry good person !
Welcome, Maggie. We bet you will be an excellent temp! We are sorry you and your regular human can't be together right now. But in the meantime, you will see, your temp human is the best of the best. You two are purrfect for each other. XO
Maggie, you are a heckuvalotta ginger lady cat!
We are glad to meet you.
Welocme Maggy ! We have been following your progress and gather you have Opinions on things. We look forward to hearing more and seeing you settle - you landed on your paws with this foster home.
Cleo's dad here- boy oh boy, do I know that emptiness feeling when one loses a furry little companion. With Cleo being a senior Tortie I so dread what the mom and I went through when we lost Orbit, and when my dear old buddy Isaac had to be put to sleep. I guess all I can do is love the old girl the best I know how while she's here, which I do beyond belief in spite of our ribbing each other. Enjoy that adorable ginger ladycat while she's with you!
Awww this makes me soooooooooo happy!!!!!! Coincidence? I think not!! xoxo
