He left the military at the end of the war; he never felt he'd done any more than his duty and believed those on the other side had done the same. He lived the rest of his life as the generous and peace-loving man he was, and though he died more than 30 years ago, the Human thinks of him often and knows she could not have had a better father.

How brave he must have been, yet like so many others of his generation, humble about his priceless contribution. Thank you for sharing his story.
That's a great picture. So much history in just one man.
We thank him for his service, because it was more than just duty, no matter what he thought. It was everything.
There are so many lives and stories behind those we know, and we honour those who have gone before and shaped the future to be safe for us. And those who made so many decent people of their descendants too.
Thank you for his service.
I love learning of him. I wish I could find a picture of my father as well and post it on the day of remembrance What a handsome man. We are proud of his service along with you.
A lovely post. We thank the veterans of all the countries who fought to keep us safe.

What an excellent tribute to Mom Mary's dad and all the veterans. Both our humans' dads were in World War II...one in the Army and on in the Navy. We owe them all a debt of gratitude. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty may, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Beautiful post, I am thankful for his service.
Oh what a GREAT photo.....so thankful for all our veterans - my Mom was very proud of her Dad too and his career in the Air Force. We must be grateful to all who have served - because of them we are FREE.
Love, Sammy

What a great post. TW's dad was in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was stationed in England, Scotland and Germany I believe.
What a beautiful post, and a special remembrance of your human's father. It sounds as though he was a wonderful human being, and we are grateful for him, and his service to our country.
Some of our male human's great uncles fought for the United States in Europe during WWII, and his father was in the USMC. His nephew is currently in the USAF.
We are so thankful for the selfless service of all of our veterans.
