                         (Not Exactly a) Sunday Selfie

So here I am, but only to say the Human wants to have her OWN post today, taking over mine like it was nuffing! Like it's just the way the world works or something. She did not even really seek out my permission or anything. I'm offended, Kitties, but what can a ManCat do when a Human decides to overstep her bounds?

On Friday, my fabulous AP English Lit girls threw their Old Bat teacher a retirement bash for the ages. There were flowers and balloons and Spitty mugs galore, not to mention a breakfast buffet, with many chip-and-cookie courses, OJ in champagne flutes, and fantastic homemade banana bread. It was almost enough (note: almost) to make me reconsider my decision, but . . . no.

Here are the charming hostesses themselves (wearing gear from the colleges they've committed to):
For 44 years, the students were always the best part of every workday.

Congratulations on your retirement, Mary! And Spitty, maybe this means she will spend more time doting on you? :)

That was really nice of your human's students - and now she can focus on you 100% of the time!

Well, Spitty, let's give the Human this one, okay? She's only ever going to retire once and this is it, so it behoves you to be gracious I guess. And, she did provide a movie - although it was only very very short and it wasn't in the same league as your own movies.

The countdown continues ....

Congratulations on your retirement. That was nice of them to throw a party for you.
Spitty, I think your Human deserved to be allowed to take over your blog for one day. Think of all the extra playtime and brushings you will be getting.

Spitty, we are all touched by the photos and tiny vid. While the future holds excitement, we think moving from the present will be bittersweet for all who had the pleasure of knowing your human.

Okay, so your mom probably could have waited until Monday for her post, but Sunday was Mother's Day. What a nice party her students had for her. We still think your photo is selfie worthy Spitty, and we would all love if you added it to the blog. Misty May will send you some EXTRA kisses. Wishing Mom Mary a belated Happy Mother's Day. YAY, congratulations! Retirement can be a daunting phase in life, but frankly us cats are the ultimate of time management guides and adjusters. MOL Bring it ON is what I say, and we both wish you a very happy non-retirement with Spitty and all the great folk you didn't get to see enough of and now can, (and commiserations for all those you will now have to see too much of MOL)

What a nice party for your retirement! Life will be different but OH SO MUCH FUN. I wondered how I'd handle it myself but I needn't have worried because life couldn't be better. Especially the "not on the clock" days. It's a big change but ever so nice after a long career. ENJOY.....I know you will!

Hugs, Pam

TBT here: That was sure a good way ta leave a career! I left mine by just locking the office door as I left and driving off into the sunset. On the other hand, I had already said goodbye to regional office people I worked with by email, and said goodbye to former co-workers IN OTHER OFFICES the day before.

I'm glad you had a better one...

Oh Spitty...What a glorious celebration and I, Marvelous think that your human is worthy of it. After all, she has the second best cat in the world! Now she can lavish her time and attention on YOU! As she should!
My Mom is just a tad jealous...SHE says she will have to work until she can't...alas because of bad investments, she will have to work forever!
