And There Is No Joy in Mudville...

Congrats to the Ravens
*******************************************

Well, Kitties, now that we have disposed of that little distraction, back to impawtant business....like my CONTEST!

This was hard, Kitties, verreh, verreh hard.

The Human and I arbitrarily decided to eliminate acronyms longer than 5 letters, acronyms already in common use (like UTB & MOL), and acronyms that applied only to specific kitties (as hilariously funny as we found WMC [Where's my Cheez-It?], it applies only to Caroline--and possibly a few other cracker-loving cats).

On another of our many pass-throughs of the list, we decided to eliminate any entry with a reference to dogs, even to point out their inferiority. After all, I *am* a kitty and we had to use something to pare down the list!

If an entry was duplicated, we kept the first entry and eliminated subsequent mentions.

Then we chose (in our not-so-humble opinions) seven of our favorites as finalists, and those are the ones you see at the poll on the right. We vacillated about whether each kitty or each blog should get one vote, and we decided it was fairer to allow one vote per kitty (which means you are on the Honor System, and since you can't find a creature more ethically upstanding than a kitty, that should work out fine).

You have till 12:01 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, to vote. The Winner will be announced Tuesday night!

  1. Our commiserations to the 49ers - we are most impressed how fast you have blogged after the game. You are no slacker! And as you say, onto important things like your competition. As there are 12 of us, do we get 12 votes? hehehehe.

Fantastic portrait by the way - that is a very thoughtful, royal pose.

  2. We weren't really pulling for either team, but we thought it was a good game.

  3. OH YES THERE IS LOTS OF JOY!!!!!!

You have to know where to look for it & its in Bawlmer Merlin!

    WOO HOO!

But concats on a game well played. Personally we thought it was you who cause the power outage by peeing on a transformer!

  4. Heres how I see it. Ifn the 9ers go for the extra point, then they would have pnly needed a FG when they were at the 5. If they dont get the safety, they force OT. Do you agree?

  5. They are some good choices. All of the Farm cats slept through the game

  6. Spitty, I don't know what to do! While I am happy that my acronym made the cut, honestly, I love them ALL! But wouldn't voting for all of them sort of defeat the purpose?

  7. We can't imagine how hard it was to decide on just those seven! We voted on our favorite. Happy Mancat Monday, Spitty!

  8. We're sorry your team lost, Spitty. We'd kiss you on your sweet black lips, but that would probably irritate you and we don't want to add insult to injury!
Oh boy, we're gonna go vote!

Star says: Need some consolation? I'll be over to lick your sweet face and ears and purr you to sleep. And I'll bring some chicken baby foods, k? purrrrr

Things didn't go your way last night, huh? Don't feel badly, my pal. I watched Downton Abbey with the peeps and let me tell you, the Lord of the Manor was havin' a pretty rough day, too. But he got over it... 'til next week.

  17. Now, now, don't be greedy...you won the World Series..that should be enough to hold you over til next year...
Wish I could say sorry....but........SF should be glad the lights went out. Had they not gone out the Ravens would have easily scored 2-3 more touchdowns while SF regrouped. The power outage definitely helped SF. You still have a great team....suck it up and move on xoxo

  19. Dear Spitster,
Kozmo was thrilled to bits when the 49rs came back after the lights came back on and the last 5 minutes of the game, he was hanging from the ceiling! It was kind of fun to see how deflated he was when they losted.
But me will send yous some consolation kisses

  22. A long long time ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, my mom was a D***** fan. Then, in 1980 (wait...was there recorded history then?), when they didn't even make the playoffs, she got annoyed with the whole deal and never looked back. And so, we don't pay any attention to football. But I guess we can say we're sorry your team didn't win.

Anyway, the WMC cut is in the vault--no need to get her screaming more than usual. We did vote on our fave, though!

  23. we hosted a superbowl party at home and while the humans snacked on DIY taco we had our share of tuna, yay! The day wasn't all a total lost after all.

  27. We're sorry 'bout your Niners, Spitty. But remember, your city does have the World Series. Can't get too greedy...can you?? Yeah, you can!

  28. They made one heck of a comeback to almost win, but mom knows how it feels because her hockey team the Philadelphia Flyers "almost" won a couple years ago. It happens far too often and she cries every time after putting so much into the team every year. "Almost only counts in horseshoes & hand grenades."

  29. We thought for sure your team was gonna win that BIG game yesterday Spitty. But they played well and came up just short.

    Now we gotta go vote.

  30. Can't wait to see the winner.

  31. totally agree with Ck 'bout the 9'rs. ANd this is a great fun contest Spitty, thanks, Savvy

  32. Our sympathies to yer team! It looked like a real mousie-massacre at first, but they came on strong at the end. If there had been a 5th quarter, we are sure they would have won!

Of us four (we HAVE to include TBT sometimes, there was one 49s fan, one Raven fan (TBT likes Edgar Allen Poe), and 2 neutrals.

I, of course, was rooting fer YOUR team. ~ Iza-Dearest

  33. BTW, we cant seem to vote "once per kitty" here. The poll just asks if we want to change the original vote. Are we doing something wrong? ~ Iza

  34. We loved your poem! Could we publish it, with credits of course? Spitty, we don't care what anyone says, you're the bestest!

Well, back to the real world. We're going to vote.

  35. oh, King Spitty -we can not bear it to see you Joyless like that.
Listen! i have my suspicions about that game! teh lights went out - right? and humans, the poor pitiful stupid things, can't see in the dark, right? So they don't even know who turned them off. But I FINK I know - after about 5 minutes of blackout silliness, eva human lady in teh WORLD said, 'oh! for teh love of COD! let's just watch Downton Abbey already...' and they switched the channel.
What channel has DA? PBS. And who is their hired goon, who is tall enough to reach teh giant switch marked "lights for entire stadium" and switch it off? That's right. Big Bird.
So, to help you through your griefs, you could write a letter campaign to defund PBS. Or come here and help me hunts birds (at which i"m not verrah good, I admit). ANYthing to help you feel better.
