The Great Escape

Sleep, that is. Kitties, believe it or not, once again that awful pesky (blush) anal gland has become horribly painful and it looks like a trip to the Stabby Place will be in my future on Monday.
Sheesh--again? Well, apparently there is, um, a "more permanent" solution than what we've been doing and perhaps the time has come to consider it. I am not happy about the idea of some masked Human slicing around such a delicate area with sharp metal blades, ::shudder:: as there are other important parts in close proximity, but the Human assures me that the slicer, uh "doctor," will be careful.
Stay tuned.

  2. If a permanent solution will be the end to your discomfort, it may well be worth letting the doctor take care of things. You can use this to your advantage and get sever days of extra papering by your human.

  3. Oh poor brave Spitty. It may just be time since these bouts seem more frequent. It would be nice to have it taken care of and all over with. Keep us updated.

  7. Oh, that does NOT sound fun! But on the other hand, I bet you would feel loads better afterwards! BTW, if you want, you can have your human send me a photo of you, high resolution, straight out of the camera and I'll see what my human can do with it.

  9. Accckk! Slicing?

Nicki goes every three months to have his anal glands expressed. The vet suggested pumpkin for fibre, to firm up his stool (which is firm most of the time anyway), but how many cats really like pumpkin? We don't!

But of the 4 -5 vets Nicki has seen over the years, none has suggested any slicing!

Purrs and paws crossed for you, Spitty.

  12. Oh no, slicing? I'm so sorry to hear this, Spitty. But if it is really permanent solution, it maybe the best in a long term. Still scary though..I hope you get the very best solution. Sending purrs for you.

  16. We hope you don't have to have your anal glands removed. My Himalayan had to have hers removed. She did great and had fewer trips to the vet because of the surgery :-)

  17. Yikes! But if in the end (pun intended) it keeps the problem from returning, maybe its a good thing.
