Last weekend, the Human snapped these two pictures. She couldn't imagine the city would ever have such bad air again. But then the Air Quality Index moved in the wrong direction, from Yellow to Orange to Red to Purple, and she sank into a whiny little funk. She stopped taking pictures, stopped helping me blog, and then she kinda stopped leaving the house altogether. Finally she had a talk with herself about perspective: People 150 miles north lost their lives, their loved ones, their animals, their homes, and in the case of the ironically-named Paradise, their whole little town. So she ordered herself to stop the whining, and more or less succeeded. Then today, a gentle NW wind came along and lightened the poisonous atmosphere over San Francisco, though sadly not over most other Bay Area regions. But it's a start, and believe me, we'll take it.
And as for me? Well, I say, Wake me when our Fog returns.

It has been awful up where you guys are! Everyone we know who lives in northern California has been suffering from the air quality. We are fortunate that our devastating fire has had a minimal effect on our air where we live. It's dry and crusty, but nothing like what you are dealing with.
Sorry to hear that your Human hasn't been quite herself this week. Not that she has any excuse to bow out of helping you with your blog, mind! But it's good that she's pulled herself together and is back on the case.
As for the poor people of Paradise. I feel very sorry for them: our TV news this evening showed that not only had they suffered the devastation of their town, they'd also had to endure a personal visit from The Donald.
Snooze on Spitty.

The fires and devastation are heartbreaking. Even though you aren't suffering the same scale of tragedy as those who lived in Paradise you are still suffering with terrible air quality, and my heart goes out to all those affected.
That's so sad and horrible what we're reading and hearing about up that way.
It's so scary and sad for everyone out that way.
We are so sorry for the the terrible situation in CA right now. Pawhugs to all of you.
Oh Spitty I'm sure you'd rather have FOG than SMOKE any old day. We continue to pray EVERY SINGLE MINUTE that the fires will get under control and stopped and let people get their lives back if they can. It's just too awful for words and we can only imagine what it's like to be in the middle of it.
Sending hugs,
Teddy and Mom
It's all very terrible, Spitty. Hang in there.
Sweetheart, come put your SpitFire nosey into my bib...I'll protect you.
I am glad you are safe. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.
Spitty, what’s happening in your area is just terrible...and it makes us sad. We’re glad you got a little breeze which cleared the air a bit. We send a ton of purrs to all those affected by the fires.
We feel for you, Spitty and end purrs and crossed paws for everybeing affected by the disaster. It's been awful. We hope for fogs for you soon.
PS Wanna buy some rakes ?
Spitty, we've been thinking about you and your mom, when we saw images of the Golden Gate Bridge taken through the smokey air. Hang in there, and we are all hoping for rain for the places where the fires are still going.
Sometimes humans have to give themselves a kick in the butt to not feel sorry for themselves. Maybe if you gave her a bitey to wake her up.
What a piece of work is man...
