Sunday Selfie: It's Hot, Kitties, and I Mean Hot

Friday:       99℉
Saturday:   93℉

Now at first glance, this may not seem so very horrifying, but in a city where the mean August temperature is 68 degrees, it is not pretty, my furiends. You can trust me on this one.

Also, because of that delightful average, almost no place has air conditioning, except movie theaters and hermetically sealed office buildings. And certainly not rent-controlled apartments in century-old buildings.

So she did buy me a very spendy cooling bed, which arrived today. Of course, cats being who they are, I have thus far refused to use it. It is, after all, the immutable law of felines that the more expensive the item, the lower the likelihood that Kitty will eat it/play with it/lie upon it.

That is hot! Our normal temperatures are pretty much like yours or a bit lower. At last it has cooled here to 65 and even the humidity has dropped to 89.
Make sure you try out that nice new bed when she isn't watching.

Oh - outstanding work Spitty! But I agree with Memories of Eric and Flynn - wait until she's in bed sound asleep, and then give it a whirl.

Oh I don't know what I'd do without a shot of good old A/C during my day Spitty so I do feel your pain. I do enjoy being OUTSIDE in the heat but only under the cover of a shrub or shady tree - I will easily fall asleep which means my accompanying human sometimes has to CARRY me back inside as I'm unwilling to leave my "nest" outside on occasion but what's a Human for anyway if not to cater to our whims? Try that cooling bed - sounds interesting!

Hugs, Teddy

Spitty I hope you and Mom can keep cool. Having AC is something we need here in Eastern PA. Luckily we have a stone house that keeps cool anyhow. Hey, there is an idea, all you need is 10 tons of stone and...

We have no central a/c here either, Spitty. When I worked at an office, I' remain refrigerated all day, and enjoyed being home in the warms! As I now am working remotely, it's not always fun to have high heat and humidity.

NO a/c, that is tough. I am glad she bought you a cooling bed. XO

On Friday, Mama drove through San Fran on the way to Burlingame from the East Bay where it was 105 and saw that it was 96 in the city and thought of you immediately.

Thunder and rain and humid in the East Bay Sunday morning. How is it out there?

Our huMom has looked into cooling beds and has noted that some can also be used by humans. So don't ignore it too long...just sayin'...

The heat has been horrifying Spitty. We positively abhor it. And that's with AC. Can't wait to see our next PG&E bill. But at least we have it (and even then all the kitties and humans spend the day lying around). Here's hoping for some relief next week along about Wednesday. Until then, stay as cool as you can and drink lots of water! Tell your guardian to do the same.

That IS hot, Spitty! You could come here. It’s cooled down a little. In the low 80s. Maybe that’s still too hot for you, though.

Amen on that cat law. I have not been taking this very hot summer well even with a/c. Today was the first time I ran and played at all in months cos the high temp was like 70 degrees.

I'm sure if you found the bed useful, you would use it, Spitty. ;-)

Second. We unnerstand about the heat. Weather is weird all over. July only saw 2 days less than 90F but August so far has been rather cool. We have your weather and you have ours this month. It we think it has rained every day but 2 since early July.

There is "wet", there is Wet", and there is "SOAKED". We are SOAKED.
