OMC! It's a Pony!

Well, okay, strictly speaking she's a miniature horse, a service animal named Lucy, out for a "happy hour" stroll with her Dad. Her Mom has a debilitating illness which makes her unsteady on her feet, so for most of the day, Lucy wears a harness and serves as her Mom's steadying companion.

The Human met her on an evening stroll near the conference center in Monterey. Lucy (as you can see) is well-fed and cared for like a favorite child. She gets apples, and hay, and carrots and other stuff, but she can't pass up even the tiniest patch of grass (kinda like me).

Lucy's five years old and will likely live to 35 or 40. Her dad said her coat will turn chestnut brown again in the winter (the color of her ears--you can kinda see patches on her tummy). The Human asked permission to pet her, and Oooooooh, Kitties, she says Lucy is soft and sweet as velvet.

The conference is going fine, but so far, Lucy is the highlight! Even *I* would've liked to have met her.

That's so cool! We've never heard of a horse being a service animal!

....but we nearly gasped when we read "Monterey." Spitty, do you live in Monterey??? You know that's Glogirly and Gloman's favorite place in ALL the world!!! They would LOVE to retire there someday. When they win the lottery.

Spitty, conference, schmonference! Your human is goofing off, hanging out with service horsies and stuff. I don't think she can be trusted - clearly there is no business to be had here at all, except maybe money business... and I would not be surprised if she encountered a service monkey too!

That's amazing! I have also seen very small ponies being used as a seeing eye pony! They can work a lot longer than dogs! xox

I have read of service horses before and I think they are amazing, just as all service animals are. Thank goodness for them.

Love Sparkles comment and would have to agree. English teachers don't have conferences anyplace but England. I'm a service animal too. I take blood from the humans.

Howawsome is that! Never new mini ponies were also service animals! Hmmmmm...do you think she uses a Potty Pod like us cats?...or do they have to do the "pick up poop in a Baggie" like the doggie guardians do?....curious

So as soon as you wrote she was a service animal all my wtitty sarCATsum went right out the window (and landed on a horse & it ran off to the sunset). That Woman sayz she never heard of service animals that were horsies! Now she is thinking she may need one. Yeah. SO not gonna happen. Good thing you weren't there, your tail is save & you don't haz ta worry about a giant horsie tongue in yer ear.

PS: I saved a little something fur ya today, did your tunnel get sidetracked?

Er, Spitty, I wouldn't want to worry you but, are you sure your Mom isn't thinking about adding someone to the family? All those details, all this time spent with Lucy...
