Daily Disappointments, #2

I was feeling a little, oh, maybe bedraggled is the word I'm looking for. So I hopped on up onto the Human's desk while she lollygagged in front of the laptop and asked nicely for some brushies and then some playtimes.

But noooooooooooo. She has to read her 27th Politico article of the day, followed by a dozen more from some other site as she shakes her head at the appalling state of American politics.

Now I ask you: What good does that do me, Kitties?

Mum is much happier when she ignores the news.

We are shocked you are feeling "bedraggled" and the cause being your Human ignoring you for political TV stuff! But we experienced the same ourselves tonight. Fortunately, we don't need the same brushies you do (all shorty-haired and frequently stroked while on The Lap).

But I is especially distressed at your unhappiness and suggests you come around soon for shared time on TBT's lap where I will lick you very thoroughly and the TBT will gently move his magic hands over all your furs to remove all those loose ones and mine, and we will both purr each other into calmness and happifiacation.

And THEN, we will snuggle onto a newly-folded blankie or the great heaty-mat and meow sweet thoughts to each other...

Oh dearie dearie dearie. I predict that this kind of thing is going to come up frequently in your Daily Disappointments posts. How many times does that Human of yours need to be told? YOU are her number 1, number 2 and number 3 priority. I can appreciate that she's got reason to be concerned about politics in the USA - we all do - but throwing herself into the ocean of mire that surrounds your President might not be the very smartest way of coping. Perhaps you could convince her that quietly, rhythmically, repetitively brushing a cat is very soothing and an excellent substitute for meditation.

She is just getting herself spun out over all that stuff! She needs to pay more attention to YOU, and getting un-spun!

Brushing you will be far more productive and soothing than paying attention to politics.

Spitty, you just look so sad. At least here we only have to endure about two hours of our mom speaking Soprano at Morning Edition (this morning was classic, btw)--not that it leads to much brushing or play. It's quite depressing.

We hear ya, Spitty. The state of our government is making us feel bedraggled and askew, too!

She would probably feel better if she played with you and gave up the news. XO

Spitty my Mom and I agree that you do look very unhappy and SURELY your human isn't too busy to see that YOU need some attention? A pet? A brush? A kind word? Is that too much to ask for all the love and devotion you lavish upon her????? Nay!

Hugs of Empathy, Teddy

None at all. Come on over. Mom can apply brushies in a flash of a second and you'll be purring right along side me.

My cat has trained me to give brushies right after I eat breakfast. It soothes both of us before I tackle the news :(

It is hard to escape the alarming state our country is in right now, but paying attention to you would do much for your mom's mood. After all, unless she has a magic wand, there is nothing she can do about this appalling mess!
